CO-EXPERTS LOW LEVEL CARBON MONOXIDE MONITOR

ON-LINE OWNER'S MANUAL

CO–EXPERTS Model 2004 Low-Level CARBON MONOXIDE MONITOR

The only C O Detector / Alarm, designed to give you BOTH Audible and Visual Warnings at the "Safety Levels" established by ACGIH (25 ppm), NIOSH (35 ppm) and OSHA (50 ppm), all at 8 hours TWA.  C O-Experts lets you know IMMEDIATELY at 10 ppm, 25 ppm, 35 ppm and 50 ppm, and the EXIT IMMEDIATELY WARNING at 70 ppm.

This Low-Level Carbon Monoxide Monitor IS NOT a "Standard", UL 2034, ULC, or CSA Listed C O Alarm, and IS NOT intended to REPLACE the Installation of such products, if such a C O Alarm is Required by State or Local "By-Laws". In such cases, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND the Installation of TWO or More CSA-6.19-2001 Listed CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS. [Which are also "Listed to the Most Recent ULC Version of UL-2034.] Then also install one or more C O – Experts Model 2004 Low Level C O Monitors to provide the vital protection that you need from Chronic Low Level C O Poisoning.

Therefore, you will notice that the Instructions in this Manual are quite different.

WARNING:  CO Monitors/Alarms ARE NOT Smoke, Fire, or other GAS Detectors, and you do need to obtain these Products for your Protection from these Hazards.  (Do keep in mind, however, a home fire generally produces tremendous quantities of Carbon Monoxide.  Approximately 75% of fire victims don't die from burns but from 'smoke inhalation'.  Among other toxic gases, Carbon Monoxide is almost certainly present in that smoke and the CO-Experts Monitor will likely alarm (even before a smoke alarm goes off) in the event of a home fire.)

This Low-Level CO Monitor is designed to detect Very Low Levels of CARBON MONOXIDE from ANY SOURCE that reaches the Monitor; therefore, it may NOT Detect low-levels of CARBON MONOXIDE found in other areas of the property.  You may want to purchase additional Low-Level Monitors for other Areas of your home where you spend a Lot of TIME.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

The Power Supply for the CO–Experts Low-Level Monitor is the DURACELL MN 1604.   DO NOT use rechargeable battery, or ANY BATTERY other than the DURACELL MN 1604.

  Battery Installation and Replacement:

     Open the Battery Door to properly install initial battery, or to replace and install a fresh 9 Volt battery (DURACELL MN 1604 Battery ONLY) to the battery Snap.

     Press the battery reminder finger down and place the battery on top of the reminder finger in the battery compartment and close the battery door.

Caution: If the battery reminder is not held down in the battery compartment by the battery, the battery door will not close and the Alarm will NOT hang on the wall.

After you have the battery properly installed, your Monitor MUST WARM UP for 60 Minutes.

This Warm Up period is necessary to assure that the Sensor is Properly Calibrated, and Verified.

Failure to do this can result in the Monitor showing an "ERR" Warning.  (Many MOS sensors recommend a 48 hour "Warm Up" period.)  This "Warm Up" period may also be required when replacing a battery if the Monitor has been without power for 24 to 36 hours resulting in the capacitors being drained.

Mounting Instructions:

     After selecting the Proper Mounting Location as recommended in Sections 6 & 7,  [if you have chosen to “Wall Mount” your Monitor instead of placing it on your bedside stand or table], you should drive, or screw, a screw into the wall at about “Eye-Level”, leaving the screw head about ¼ inch from the wall.

      Hang the Monitor firmly on the wall.

Has it been at least 60 minutes since the battery was installed?  If so, continue.

     Next, clear the memory and reset the monitor by pressing the TEST / RESET continuously for at least 10 seconds.  First the Monitor will Sound 4 Beeps, and then (6 or 8 seconds later), Repeat the 4 Beeps.

     The Display will automatically go through the “Data Recall” sequence.  This is a unique and important feature of the CO-Experts Low-Level Alarm.  Click here for specific details of the Data Recall sequence.

Once the sequence has finished, the display will read "Clr" (Clear) and the monitor will sound a long Beep

If your Monitor does not show “Err” and the Green LED flashes once a minute…..you are now being PROTECTED by your Low-Level Monitor.

=======================================================================

Where to install your CO Monitor:

The C O – Experts Low-Level Monitor can be installed in any indoor, “Lived In” area, where it can be Visually Monitored on a regular basis.

The First Priority is to Protect you as you sleep; therefore, if you purchase only one C O Monitor, you must install it in your bedroom area. It can be Installed on any INSIDE WALL.

     Additional Low-Level Monitors should be installed in other areas of your home where you spend a LOT of TIME, but when doing so, follow the Instructions in Section #7 very closely.

=======================================================================

Where NOT TO INSTALL your CO Monitor:

     Outdoors, or in ANY unheated area where temperatures may drop below 32 degrees F, or above 100 degrees F, for more than a 24 hour period.

      Within 5 feet of vents, flues, or chimneys.

      Within 5 feet of any combustion appliance, such as ovens, ranges, stoves, fireplaces, furnaces, water heaters, etc.

      Within 3 feet of corners, or any other area where the free circulation of air may be impeded or prevented.

      In any place where the Monitor may be physically damaged; such as low ceilings, or high traffic areas.

=======================================================================

MAINTENANCE: Cleaning Your Alarm

      You can clean your Monitor by using a vacuum cleaner hose and vacuuming around the openings on the Monitor.

      The outside of the Monitor can be wiped with a damp cloth.

      AFTER CLEANING, TEST YOUR MONITOR BY USING THE TEST BUTTON AND CHECKING THAT THERE IS NO “ERR” SIGNAL AND THE GREEN LED FLASHES ONCE A MINUTE.

  1. SERVICE and WARRANTY:  Important Safety Instructions:

          In the event of any trouble in your Monitor, DO NOT TAMPER WITH IT IN ANY WAY, (except disconnecting the battery), DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TAKE THE UNIT APART.  ANY TAMPERING WILL RESULT IN COMPLETE VOIDING OF THE WARRANTY!

          This product MUST be serviced by qualified service personnel.

          This Monitor features a very extensive “Fail-Safe” circuit design, which monitors the entire system, including Sensor Failure - another important feature.  The UL 2034 standard allows for just the circuit board to be checked for proper operation.  The CO-Experts Monitor checks not only the circuit board but also the sensor itself.

    ANY FAILURE in the system will result in an “ERR” Warning appearing on the Monitors Display, a  Flash of the LED, and a Single Chirp of the Sounder.

          In the event of any trouble, disconnect the battery and return the unit prepaid.  Enclose proof of purchase, a check or money order for ten ($10) dollars (US) to cover return shipping and handling to:
